VitalHub UK announce support for Hospice in the Weald and Julia’s House

VitalHub UK looks to fundraise in support of the families and residents of two Hospices

VitalHub UK is delighted to announce that we have selected two wonderfully deserving charities to support throughout the next 12 months, Hospice in the Weald and Juliaʼs House.

Both charities provide hospice services to those in need, supporting families that are facing the unimaginable to make the most of their lives together, no matter how short.

Our goal is to raise much needed funds over the coming year to help them continue with their incredible work.

Watch this space for more details of how you can donate and support our teams in their fundraising efforts.

    Hospice in the Weald

For over 40 years Hospice in the Weald has provided care, completely free of charge, to patients living with a terminal illness, and those important to them, throughout West Kent and Northern East Sussex. Their mission is to provide compassionate, personalised and holistic care for everyone in their community that needs their support.

Their 7 key hospice services include and in-patient ward, a newly opened Cottage Hospice, Hospice Outreach where they provide end-of-life care for patients in their own homes, a Living Well Centre, Counselling and Support services, Chaplaincy and Spiritual care, and their newest support provision for Children living with life limiting conditions.

Through each service, they empower patients and their loved ones to celebrate life, enabling them a greater sense of control, understanding and support as they navigate the challenges of their diagnosis.

This year, they are launching a Hospice service for Children, delivered in the home and through a bespoke new day service provision. This fulfils a great area of unmet need, which currently sees families having to travel long distances to receive support. For families caring for a child with a life limiting illness, the additional stress of a long journey can be incredibly challenging.

    Julia’s House

Juliaʼs House is the local childrenʼs hospice in Wiltshire and Dorset, looking after the most seriously ill children across the counties. These children need 24 hour care for their complex and often rare medical conditions, which puts a huge amount of pressure on their families.

The charityʼs dedicated team of nurses, carers, therapists, family support workers and hospice doctors provide a lifeline of care in the Juliaʼs House hospices and in familiesʼ homes. They offer clinical, emotional and practical support and essential respite breaks to give exhausted parents and other family members time out from round-the-clock care, helping to prevent them from reaching breaking point.

Each family that Juliaʼs House supports can tailor the care they receive in whichever way suits them best. Crucially, Juliaʼs House supports the whole family and not just the seriously ill child, providing respite care for a few hours, a day or overnight. The charity also provides emergency care and the support that families need at the end of a childʼs life, where their nurses work closely with paediatric palliative care specialists and the wider community medical team.
