    Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to vitalhub.uk, run and managed by VitalHub UK.

    1.1 Our Commitment

Web accessibility effects millions of people with disabilities across the globe. Disabilities can range from long term issues such as partial sightedness, colour blindness, loss of hearing and mobility issues or there may be more temporary conditions such as broken bones or reduced capacity caused by environmental or technological restrictions.

VitalHub UK is committed to making its website and software solutions accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 . We recognise the importance of accessibility and are currently addressing non-compliance across our website(s) and software. The assessment and accessibility updates of our website began in 2024 and will continue into 2025 making sure that we adhere to the guidance set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and their Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 (WCAG 2.2).

The basic WGAG 2.1 Guidelines are set out to make sure online content is:
Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable.
Understandable: Make text content readable and understandable.
Robust: Maximise compatibility with current and future user agents, including assistive technologies.

    1.1 VitalHub UK’s Accessibility Standards

To help ensure that our website and software solutions are developed in accordance with the latest guidelines, we have a company-wide accessibility policy and guidance notes which are posted internally on our company’s information exchange network. These guidelines adhere to the minimum ‘AA’ level of conformity in the WGAG 2.2 framework.

    Our Accessibility Standards:
    – All text can be resized at 200% without loss of content or functionality.
    – Ensure that all products are responsive and not device dependent.
    – All use of text should maintain a minimum ‘AA’ contrast ratio of 4.5:1 and 3:1 for larger text (‘AAA’ contrast ratio is required for public facing websites).
    – Provide clear visual hierarchy of page content for better discernment.
    – Offer clear menu structures and navigation.
    – H tags for page and section titles should be used wherever possible.
    – If images are used always provide ‘Alt’ and ‘Title’ tags.
    – Enable use of keyboard tabbing for navigation and provide input focus states.
    – Provide UI elements in logical groups for better cognition.
    – Use validations and error identification when offering input fields.
    – Apply subtitles/closed captions to video where media contains speech.

    1.2 Compliance Status

Vitalhub.uk is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the reasons stated in sections 1.3 and 1.4.

    1.3 Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

    – Images require alternate text.
    – Some elements do not meet minimum colour contrast threshold.
    – Links must have discernible text.
    – Links and navigation are not accessible via tabbing across some pages.
    – Some lists or navigation elements are not structured correctly.
    – <iframe> and <frame> elements don’t have an accessible name.
    – Some hidden ARIA elements are focusable.

1.4 Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text content.

Some elements do not meet minimum colour contrast threshold, affecting some people suffering from poor vision or colour blindness. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum).

The website contains some links where text is non-discernible. This can affect the use of assistive technology such as screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) and 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

Links and navigation are currently not accessible via keyboard tab key across some pages. This can mean that those users who use keyboards rather than a mouse pointer have no way of navigating the website. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap.

Some lists or navigation elements are not structured correctly. This is important as relationships that are implied by visual or auditory formatting should be preserved when the presentation format changes. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.

Use of <iframe> and <frame> elements don’t have an accessible name ad some hidden Aria elements are focusable. This can affect the use of assistive technology such as screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

VitalHub UK plan to fix the non-compliant content listed above by 31st December 2025.

    1.5 Disproportionate burden

Currently the identified issues within the system are being updated and there no items which could be considered a ‘disproportionate burden’.

1.6 Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

    • PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

    • Live video

We do not plan to add captions to future live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

    1.7 Feedback and contact information

If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, or if you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please email compliance@vitalhub.com.

We’ll consider your request and get back to as soon as possible.

    1.8 Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
